Almost half of employers have rejected a potential worker after finding incriminating material on their Facebook pages.
More than four in 10 employers discarded a job seekers resume after checking their Facebook page, a survey of 450 employers for careerbuilder.co.uk found. Career Builder president Farhan Yasin said job seekers could have all the skills needed for a job but fail to secure their dream job because they had been sloppy about what they posted online.
What are people caught out with?
- 38%: for boosting up their qualifications on their CV and then getting caught on Facebook
- 13%: for making racist comments
- 10%: for boasting about drinking and drugs
- 9%: for placing racy photos on their Facebook page
