To brake on ice and snow without locking your wheels, get into a low gear earlier than normal, allow your speed to fall and use your brakes gently.
When driving in snow or ice, reduce your speed. The chances of skidding are much greater and your stopping distance will increase massively – up to TEN TIMES the normal distance for braking.

Some fire and rescue services offer a free home fire safety visit to people living in their area. They will inspect your home to help you spot any potential fire hazards and show you what to do to reduce or prevent the risk of fire, and can also help you to develop an escape plan for your property.
If you become lost outside in the wilderness, go back the way you came until you find a landmark or known place. Call for help. Make yourself visible and audible.
