Every time you discover you are thinking negative thoughts, tell yourself gently but firmly, “Drop it!” then immediately turn your attention to the world around you.
When it happens, notice the negative thinking pattern, label it, and let it float away. Decide to stop dwelling on the idea.
If there’s something you don’t want to do at Christmas, explain why you don’t want to do it, and have a suggestion ready for an alternative. For example instead of taking on all the cooking you could suggest a ‘bring and share’ meal so that everyone takes a share of the work.
Make sure that you have conversations with your family and friends about everyone’s expectations of Christmas well in advance. That way you can deal with any difficult demands and make compromises that suit everyone.
If a job interview dress code is “professional”, men should wear a collared shirt, tie and trousers. Women can wear a dress shirt or blouse with a skirt at least knee length.
Make sure you are dressed appropriately for your job interview. Ask your contact at the company what the dress code is like where you are interviewing.
If someone spews hostile words at you, don’t let them get to you. Ignore their crazy antics and respond with kindness and calmness, or ignore them and walk away.
Discard Self Talk that is self-defeating or projects anger. Negative Self Talk can make a situation seem far worse than it is, causing unnecessary stress and potentially more conflict.
Work out what type of positive Self Talk will encourage and motivate you throughout the day, then strive to stay in that frame of mind.
Letting go of negative people doesn’t mean you hate them, or that you wish them harm, it just means you care about your own well-being.
