You may see small mistakes as evidence that you’re unworthy. You may interpret your challenges as proof that you’re incompetent. Neither of these things are true, and you don’t have to believe them.

Mourn your mistakes fully, learn from them, and make amends where possible. Then forgive yourself, and let go of the past so that you can move forward, knowing you’ve done your best.
Shame vanishes when you receive support and understanding from others. We must stop trying to appear perfect by keeping our perceived flaws a secret and going it alone.

Being listened to, and having connection with others, can be such powerful feelings that they can relieve even the deepest pain.
Empathetic listening and acknowledgement means giving someone the chance to feel like they fit into the order of the world.
Just because you’ve always done something, it doesn’t mean you are less of a person if you stop. It’s important to listen to yourself, especially if you’re doing something that’s making you sad.
