Telling someone about your eating disorder and admitting that you need help is an important step towards recovery. Decide who you would like to tell – a friend, a family member, or a professional.
You may be finding it hard to approach others to tell them about what you are going through for a number of reasons. You may be worried about how they will react, feel guilty or ashamed, or feel concerned that you may upset them.
The likelihood of achieving full recovery will be greatly increased by having people around you to support you. These could be trusted friends and family members, teachers, doctors, counsellors and therapists.
You alone can beat your eating disorder, but you can’t beat it alone.
