Opinions are made to be changed - or how is truth to be got at? by Sonny Abesamis

Encourage friends through hard times: ask what you can do to help – but only offer if you are actually willing to help. Even if there is nothing you can do, offering sends a strong signal you care.

If the situation is about something you know you can’t help them with, like about money you don’t have to lend or give, you can say “I’m in a tough situation financially, too, but is there any other way I can try to help?” Most people understand that position and greatly appreciate the candidness, and the offer.
