June, 28th of 2013. That is the date when I last wrote for Respect Yourself, I talked about agoraphobia, not as an expert but as a mere sufferer, I was just a 17 years old boy who got the chance of sharing some words about what I had to deal with everyday. And here I am now, a 20 years old man who’s turning 21 this August.
After acknowledging an initial disappointment, choose to be optimistic and grateful for what you have. You don’t always get your first choice, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn to love your 7th.
Stress is a natural part of a hard work, but it doesn’t have to cripple you. Take a break, breathe, and slowly work through it.
Give yourself a comforting message every time you get lost in a painful scenario. Try: “This is a moment of suffering. May I give myself the compassion I need.”
Every time you discover you are thinking negative thoughts, tell yourself gently but firmly, “Drop it!” then immediately turn your attention to the world around you.
When it happens, notice the negative thinking pattern, label it, and let it float away. Decide to stop dwelling on the idea.
