Some people may not understand the depth of feeling you had for your pet, and you should never feel guilty or ashamed about grieving for an animal friend.
Given the intense bond many of us share with our animals, it’s natural to feel devastated by feelings of grief and sadness when a pet dies.

If your feelings are overwhelming and you’re struggling, you may need professional help from a GP or therapist to gain control. There are preventative measures, but also know when to reach out if you need help.
Exercise, meditation, yoga, time out for yourself, and getting into nature can all help you create mental space for, and deal with, your feelings.
