It isn’t easy to remain positive when negativity surrounds you, but remember that you have full control over your attitude.
The ocean can’t sink a ship unless it gets inside the ship: all the negativity in the world can’t bring you down unless you allow it to get inside your head.
If you get angry when driving, pull over until you calm down. “I was angry at something” is never a reason for endangering others or causing fatalities.
Try awareness and understanding of others without an emotional response – this feels very different from getting your buttons pushed. Judgments that cause emotional reactions are clues to help you find personal insight.
Most judgments of others are ego strategies to avoid uncomfortable feelings. If you lack the awareness of where they come from, they can lead to even more discomfort later.
Sometimes it’s best to avoid tempting situations instead of trying to boost your willpower. Knowing your triggers, both good and bad, should help you avoid those moments where your willpower is challenged.
When sexting goes badly, it can make you feel ashamed, guilty, embarrassed or anxious about what people might say. The sooner you talk to a trusted adult, the more likely you can stop the image from being shared further.
